San Jose Art Walk

Los Cabos art walk presents new galleries and artists

February, 2019

For going on thirteen years, the artistically inclined have made their own migration to the tip of Baja California, and enjoy the art galleries that are part of Los Cabos Art Walk. They congregate every Thursday evening, from November to June. The marvels on display may be manmade rather than from Mother Nature but the visual elation promises to be the same.

More than 14 galleries participate in the weekly event that – true to its name – takes the artistic experience from the main square and spreads it over the entirety of the Gallery District. Just west of the Plaza Mijares, the district is bordered by Avenida Miguel Hidalgo to the east, Calle Ignacio Zaragoza to the south, Avenida Vicente Guerrero to the west and Calle Ignacio Comonfort to the north.

Los Cabos is the perfect place to enjoy a great variety of activities art and culture centered

For guests at Le Blanc Spa Resort Los Cabos, the gallery district is less than a half an hour away from the adults-only luxury, all-inclusive resort, making for ease of access. And with the exclusive benefit of $500 airfare credit offered to those who book a stay from now until April 27, 2019, art fanatics’ lives just got a whole lot more interesting.

The district combines the best of old world San Jose del Cabo – cobblestone streets, quaint dessert rustic architecture – with the sophisticated taste of the artistically astute. And we haven’t even mentioned the galleries themselves yet.

The variety of local high-end fine art galleries is undoubtedly the strongest on the peninsula and features original paintings, sculpture, photography, prints, and jewelry from local and international artists.

In Los Cabos Art Walk, you can find original art from local and international artists

In recent years, the interior streets of the district have been close to vehicular traffic further encouraging throngs of pedestrians to take the streets during the Art Walk. “The best part of the experience is that it’s concentrated around four or five blocks of businesses and venues, all of them bringing something unique to the table in order to guarantee an unrivaled appreciation of our artistic community,” says Edgar Villavicencio, founding member and current President of the Gallery District Association. As well as the art on display, passersby will be able to enjoy a variety of street performers and arts and crafts artisans displaying their wares (jewelry, pottery, clothing, etc.).

To go along with the art consumption is more traditional type – some of the finest restaurants and bars in Los Cabos. Everything from traditional Mexican fair to high-end culinary delights are available, as well as some of the best street food in the region.

Live music echoes through the streets from 5 p.m. to much later than the official end of Art Walk nights. Pick your spot for cocktails and late night conversation over the art you’ve just taken in.

“The whole experience is tailored for our most discerning visitors, from the quaint classical buildings that line up our streets to the quality of our exhibits,” says Villavicencio.

Everything about this resort was perfect. The customer service is out of this world. I would like to thank Vanessa (hostess) and Raul Yepez (server). However, my family and I loved Agustin Escalante. He always remembered us and treated us so nicely.

We love it

Me and my wife spent our honeymoon in the Moon Palace in 2004. We fell in love with it. We have been going with our daughters. In June 2019, we went with my family and my wife sister's family and stayed at the Grand. It is huge and so much fun.
