The Best Jazz Comes to Playa del Carmen

November, 2018

It’s hard to think of a better way to enjoy the sun-kissed sand and turquoise waters of Playa del Carmen than listening to Bobby McFerrin’s “Don’t Worry Be Happy.” Or how about Norah Jones’ “Don’t Know Why,” or “Come Away With Me.” Those jazzy favorites are not only among the most popular songs to enjoy on vacation, but among the most popular jazz songs of this century and last.

So, it’s hard to imagine a more jovial (Don’t Worry) or relaxing (Don’t Know) way to enjoy Playa Del Carmen. But there definitely is.

Riviera Maya Jazz Festival

How about experiencing McFerrin and Jones perform their songs live for you within steps of the beach in Playa del Carmen? The two artists headline the 16th edition of the Riviera Maya Jazz Festival, this year taking place at Mamitas Beach Club in Playa del Carmen.

The club is at the opposite end of the renowned Quinta Avenida (5th Avenue) from Playacar Palace. That means a long stroll, or short ride, along Quinta Avenida will take you to some of the most successful Jazz songs in history.

The Jazz festival takes place from Friday, Nov. 30 to Sunday, Dec. 2, and as well as featuring McFerrin and Jones over the weekend, renowned bossa nova singer, Bebel Gilberto, will perform on Friday, along with a host of other popular jazz musicians.

The recently renovated 201-room Playacar Palace provides a picturesque setting to enjoy all that Playa del Carmen offers. Situated just south of the end of Quinta Avenida – and right next to the Ferry Terminal to Cozumel – the resort boasts keyless rooms, in-room double whirlpool tubs, walk-out suites with private terraces, and all the amenities you’ve come to expect from the leader in all-inclusive luxury, Palace Resorts.

#BestServer of our entire stay 7 night vacay

I want to give a BIG shout out to Fernando for his #TopShelfService. My family and I have been on vacation for 7 nights at the #SunriseMoonPalace and his service was the perfect example of why you would come to this resort. If you enjoy Indian cuisine, this is your spot! Enjoy

Swimming with dolphins was wonderful: they were humanely treated and not mobbed by tourists.

Overall great experience: the rooms, food (many options were available), drinks and service are all great. Grounds neatly kept.
However, the beach and water has a lot of trash in it (beware, swimmers).

Love it!

We celebrated our daughter’s graduation from Dental school and my birthday May 23-30. From start to finish we had a great week! The accommodations were fabulous, the restaurants were excellent and the service was over the top!
