One of the attractions our guests look forward to year after year is our spine-chilling “House of Horrors” which is so much more than just a haunted house, but an endeavor to deliver a powerful scare while leaving guests thirsty for more. Learn about the creative process behind this terrifying experience, one that knocks the socks off even the most adept Halloween enthusiasts.
This October 23 - 31, Moon Palace Cancun invites you to embrace the “Color of Fear” – a thrilling, all-new experience with six levels of hair-raising excitement that will take fear to a whole new level.
But ‘’terrifying’’ is not accomplished overnight. Our creative concept begins six months in advance when our entertainment team—led by Riccardo Ruggeri—begins to develop the concept inspired by various treacherous stories—that will come to life in the House of Horrors.
After an initial sketch, the set designers work closely with renders to create a compelling storyboard that sets the mood for our haunted house. After this, all the lights, sounds, masks, and makeup that ultimately give the scene its truly horrific quality are added.
Also, during this stage, a team of more than 20 in-house staff members is assembled to take part in the House of Horrors. Our performers are selected through a casting process and are trained in the art of scaring. Each with their own personality, will play a vitally scary role in the experience.
As the calendar turns to October, the anticipation reaches its peak. Our dedicated team springs into action, meticulously preparing the stage for a heart-pounding adventure that will leave guests breathless. This year, one of our ballrooms in Moon Palace Nizuc will undergo a breathtaking transformation, and the Color of Fear experience will come to life.
Our grand opening will greet its first victims (you guessed it), our staff members, who help verify the light, sound, and makeup effects are just the right dose to render a startling reaction. Then starting on October 23rd to the 29th, 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., and on October 30th - 31st from 6:00 p.m. to 10 p.m. guests will be able to enter our Color or Fear experience (Not recommended for children under the age of 14).
After this has been perfected, guests will then be able to enter our House of Horrors in groups of 3 or 4, where every 3 minutes, a new group can step inside. We recommend guests not bring children under 13 years of age due to the scary impact it may cause. Also, there will be a panic button in each room just in case!
The reactions, comments—and dare we say screams of our guests—affirm that our House of Horrors is definitely a must. Thanks to the creativity and dedication of our teams, we are able to transform this popular experience into a Made by Palace masterpiece, year in, year out.
